A Merry Christmas From Rainbow Designs

Well this will be the last blog post for the year as we close our doors on Friday 19th December.  So if you intend to purchase your Christmas gifts from us, I implore you to order before then, otherwise they will not be sent until we reopen in February 2015.

Christmas is an extremely busy time of year for all involved, we are working super hard to fulfill all the orders and our couriers are working overtime to deliver them all.  For this reason we ask that you order as soon as possible to avoid as much stress as possible.

If you have still not placed an order, we recommend you do so now - today - to guarantee your choice of gift.  Many of our Christmas gifts have sold out already.

How has your year been?  Was it as good as you had hoped?  Are you taking any time off over the festive season?

Ours, as always, has been full of ups and downs but that is all part and parcel of life.  Thank goodness for chocolate, right?

So from all the staff at Rainbow Designs, we wish you a wonderful Christmas and the most awesome New Year that you can possibly imagine.

Here is a great thought to keep you going through Christmas and beyond...

"I will honour Christmas in my heart and try to keep it all the year." - Charles Dickens

May all your dreams come true, and more!

C Is For Christmas

C is for...I was torn.  C could stand for chocolate, or Christmas, or even corporate gifts. But Christmas won out - really is there a Christmas that doesn't actually contain chocolate? Not in this house!

I love to give gifts - so this season suits me down to the ground. That is one of the reasons I started Rainbow Designs in the first place. Seeing someone smile really makes my day!

Did you know we have only have 9 Mondays until Christmas (not including today)? Does that thought send shivers down your spine? The last day to place orders is actually 22 December 2014 so in reality that only gives you about two months to decide and order.
Panic mode! Not if you are organised. I truly think the key to having a great Christmas is to be organised and get the shopping done and dusted so you aren't worrying the week or even the day before.

I love Christmas. It is a time to relax and unwind because once I send out the last Christmas order I shut up shop and take some time out for me. Selfish, yes but extremely necessary.

It's a time to watch those Christmas reruns and dine on Turkey and other festive trimmings.  The beer and wine flows freely and so does the love that accompanies the holiday season.

I love shopping for Christmas stock to add to the store because each year I try to find gifts which outdo the year before. Two of my favourites this year are the Reindeer Sweet Tooth Gift and the Yay Christmas Gift - both featuring 900g of mixed yummy chocolates and lollies. And for the ultimate in ultimate we offer a Four Seasons Luxury Hamper which includes champagne, wine, olives, chocolate, coffee and other goodies to tempt those taste buds.

Tis the season to be jolly - fa la la la la la la la la - but only if you are organised otherwise Mr Scrooge may inadvertently pop in for a visit. But we are pretty sure even our gifts would put a smile on his face too!

Doctor Feelgood To The Rescue

There is nothing worse than being laid up in bed unable to move especially when you are feeling sorry for yourself.  And if he has the man flu well - look out.  You know that means that he will be unable to move at all and you will have to nurse him back to health.  A broken leg, a bout of the flu - Rainbow Designs knows just the man for the job.

We have someone who can help cure all ails - Doctor Feelgood is his name and when he pays a visit to your door he leaves his doctor's kit behind and brings his trusty box of lollies instead.  His funky white noodle box filled with a half kilo of yummy M&Ms, clinkers, jelly babies, race cars, caramel buds, chocolate bullets and more will soothe and satisfy.  Forget those aches and pains - this gift hamper will make you feel better in no time at all.

Sometimes the doctor is unable to make house calls so the nurse comes on his behalf.  Nurse Bear is just as capable of tending to your needs and she follows Doctor Feelgood's methodology by bringing along her box of mixed lollies and chocolates.

Both Doctor Feelgood and Nurse Bear are securely packed in a cardbox box with tissue paper and gift wrapped in colourful Australian made wrapping paper.  They also come complete with a hand written gift tag with your personal message.  $50 including postage and handling and your gift of choice will be on your recipient's doorstop at no time at all.

Seven Deadly Sins

Our Seven Deadly Sins gift box is one of the new kids on the block in terms of our gifts; but let's be clear about this - we aren't selling a mixed box of wrath, greed, sloth, pride, lust, envy and gluttony.  Our Seven Deadly Sins gift box refers to seven individual round containers, each filled with lollies or chocolates of your choice.  While our boxes may create a little bit of pride or envy, we like to think that overall they create feelings of happiness, well-being and a willingness to share with loved ones if necessary.

Choose your 7 selections from 31 delicious choices - what will you choose; that's always the hardest part in my opinion.  Gummi Bears, Chicos, Freckles, Jaffas, Raspberries, Smarties, F1 Race Cars...just a few of our delicious options.

If dad has a sweet tooth then this might be a good choice for him for Father's Day.  He can choose a box for each day of the week as a treat after work, or save them all for a weekend celebration to accompany his favourite ale or beer.

I like the fact that our chocolate and lolly gifts are a little bit naughty and a lot nice, don't you?

If you specifically like to pick your own mix we have a variety of gifts under this category.  In addition to the Seven Deadly Sins Gift Hamper mentioned above, we also carry a 1kg or a half kilo mix of lollies and chocolates in a reusable gift box, as well as a Cravings Overdrive mix (1.8kg) presented in a reusable pink Sweetie Tin (pictured above).

Choose the size of the gift you want, pick your favourites and order.  As easy as 1, 2 and 3.

Once They're Gone - They're Gone

We have a number of gifts which are selling fast and once they are gone, we won't be getting them back in (at least not for a while anyway).

So what gifts am I talking about?

Rocky Road

400g of Australian made Freckleberry Rocky Road - milk chocolate, dark chocolate, white chocolate (raspberries, marshmallows, salted cashews & caramel fudge) and 'fun' mix (bananas, raspberries, neopolitan marshmallows, mini M&M's).  8 Pryde soft centre chocolates are also included and it is presented in a fabulous, reusable round tin.

English Sweetie Mix

This gift includes a 1kg mix of delicious English sweets including Fruit Pastilles, Pear Drops, Wine Gums and Fruit Salad Gums.  And what's more it comes in a reusable Emma Bridgewater designed Polka Dot tin.

Old Blighty Chocolates

We love this one!  A delicious mix of yummy English Chocolates includes Ashbury Caramel Cups, Peppermint Creams, Strawberry Creams and Turkish Delight (15 of each) in a reusable round tin.

Licorice Lovers

Contents may vary but will generally include a 1kg mix of licorice.  How does licorice allsorts, milk chocolate licorice bullets, dark chocolate licorice bullets, white chocolate raspberry bullets, licorice pieces, licorice torpedoes and licorice cream rocks sound?

Fudge It

Three stunning keepsake tins featuring 220g of delicious English made fudge in each tin.  The three flavours represented are vanilla, chocolate and rum & raisin.

Other gifts that won't be repeated include English Sweets All Wrapped Up, the Nestle Chocolate Selection and the UK Sweetie Tin.

So make sure you pick up your favourites before they are all sold out.  Going, going...

Hopping With Excitement

Ooh ooh I am full of excitement with the new range of gifts we are about to launch (Cadbury Collection, Caramel Confectionary Mix and Nestle Chocolate Collection to name a few)!  But shh it's a secret!

I can however share with you some of the impressive Easter treats that we have in store to make up for our veil of secrecy and you won't be disappointed.

Easter Tin With Gingerbread - For a gift with a difference try our retro tea tin filled with mini chocolate Easter eggs and gingerbread cookies.  And once the goodies are eaten the tin can be used and admired.

Rolo & Friends Easter Gift - This gift is just gorgeous and ideal for your best friend.  Rolo comes with a beautiful book on friendship, Tease Tea sachets and a selection of Easter eggs; all tied up in a drawstring bag.

Easter Feaster - Well it's just not Easter without our Easter Feaster box.  A huge kilo of yummy mini chocolate Cadbury and Red Tulip Easter eggs in a variety of scrumptious flavour - milk chocolate, caramel, turkish delight, peppermint and strawberry.

Bunny Box - A cute little bunny box adorned with glitter and a delightful 700g of mixed chocolate Easter eggs.  You will know some "bunny" loves you when this package arrives on your door!

The last day of March is tomorrow so best to get your order in quick to avoid delay.  Hop to it!

When The Postman Rings

I love the sound of the doorbell ringing alerting me to the fact that a parcel has been delivered.  The anticipation of opening the parcel and seeing the contents inside is very exciting, particularly when I am not expecting anything.

Magnify that feeling by at least 20 and you can understand how I feel when the new stock arrives for Rainbow Designs.  In this case it is not just one small box, but a number of really large boxes full of delicious treats and gorgeous packaging, and that thrill, even after all these years is still there.

As I am opening the boxes, I can imagine packaging the goods up for those that order and seeing the smiles on the faces of those who will receive them.  We take pride in our products and our packaging and do our utmost to ensure that our customers are 100% happy.  Just check out or reviews on WOMO to see what some of our customers have to say.

I enjoy this time of year as it means that even more parcels are being delivered to our door than usual to cater for the festive season ahead.  Christmas gives us the opportunity to be more creative and elaborate with our packaging – I mean who doesn’t like penguins frolicking in the snow and I know that our three Japanese inspired fudge tins are going to be very popular.

While I do love to receive gifts (I mean who doesn’t!), the pleasure of giving (even as a store owner) definitely beats the satisfaction of receiving a gift – every time!

Honesty

It's so quiet today I'm not sure why I got out of bed! Swings and Roundabouts lately. The last few weeks, come to think of it it's been the last few months, it's been refreshingly busy - I've sprung out of bed (well maybe not 'sprung'!) at 6.30am excited for what the day would bring. There's been lots of fabulous orders, customer enquiries, corporate Christmas quote requests and it just felt like the upward momentum had finally hit Rainbow Designs this year - hooray!

Queue today and zilch - the momentum appears to have stopped, dead. WHY?????

I'm getting close to just giving up, then only problem is Port Macq doesn't have many job opportunities for me. Although, it would probably be cheaper to close Rainbow Designs than to keep it going at the moment - my latest tax return tells me that. woo to the hoo.

I'm trying to stay positive, really I am, but sometimes...........................it it hard. (and my stupid computer does not help things!)

I've ordered some, hopefully fabulous, new packing and really looking forward to its arrival! There's a few Christmas themed gift boxes (well tins actually) as well as a couple of 'everyday' gift packaging and a 'love' themed tin (it's heart shaped and looks fabbo!) and I found my Easter 'russian egg' tins that I use to have and that were so popular but then the supplier stopped stocking - they're back baby!! I'm not getting ahead of myself though and won't order them just yet, let's see what Christmas brings first!

Today was meant to be sunny and 28degrees but I think it's taken a leaf out of my book and is grey and miserable looking :-) Doesn't do much for my mood that's for sure. BUT chin up, onwards and upwards.

I've cranked the music and am forcing (!) myself to stay positive and (sort of) focused.

Time for some lollies (have you had your quota today??)

What doesn't kill you makes you strong,

Jacqui
