It's Sunday

Yep, it's Sunday, a day of rest, a day of housework, a day of sunshine and beach walks, picnics and reading but what am I doing? Sitting at my desk in front of my computer writing. Writing blog post, writing Facebook posts, writing to do list for the coming week. I've printed out orders that have come in and written the tags, I've packed and wrapped and satchels these orders.

Every Friday I promise myself I won't turn my computer on until Monday morning and every. single. time. I turn my computer on before Monday dawns. Saturday I can usually get away with just using my phone without needing to turn my computer on but Sunday's, Sunday's for some reason are different. I don't know why but I feel like I'm wasting precious 'work' time if I'm sitting reading or watching the tv or even walking by the beach. Why is this?

Do you feel you should be working all the time? Is it a business owner mine set? Is it the thought that 'if I don't do it no one else is going to', 'if I don't do it I won't have time later on', maybe it's just the feeling of working will some how, magically make more orders come in. If my computer's on then everyone else's must be too! It's like I can project my want, my need for orders through my computer screen just by staring at it or facebook some random, 'silly' post that'll suddenly make people - ooooh I MUST buy something from Rainbow Designs NOW!!!

I still have this ridiculous notion that as soon as I send a newsletter or publish a blog post I'll be inundated with orders and enquiries - it is yet to happen (11 years and counting!). I'm what you call an 'idiot' - doing the same thing and expecting a different outcome. ha.

Maybe one day I'll learn, one day. In the mean time, I best get back to Facebook and like a post or three and get busy on another blog post!

Chocolate Gift Hampers, we've got them!

Hi, my names Jacqui and I am a chocoholic - woohoo! Are you or do you know someone who is? You can thank me later but I think I may have just helped you find the perfect gift for them (or you!).

I started my business, Rainbow Designs, with the idea of having some cheap (affordable) chocolate and lolly type gifts because, well, I love chocolate, I love gift giving and I didn't (still don't) have much money!

First gift I ever sold was the Big Sweet Tooth Gift! My website had been 'live' for about six weeks and finally, finally someone ordered - March 23, 2004. The beginning!

Back in the day it came in two 500g noodle boxes now it is currently in our fabulous Ditzy designed reusable keepsake tin (which I love!).

I've kept my gifts pretty much the same over the years with a few newbies added and removed, new gift boxes and hampers and an assortment of weird and wonderful confectionery. Some worked, some didn't! You live and learn and eat a lot of lollies!

Our current list of Chocolate Hampers include not only my range of Chocolate Boxes but also a yummy selection from a fabulous Hamper company I am lucky enough to be working with. They are such a lovely bunch of people and never fail to deliver gorgeous hampers that I am proud to be able to sell to my customers!

I have noticed over the last few weeks quite a few people who found Rainbow Designs by using the search term 'gift ideas for someone/couple/friend who has everything'. Lucky them! I guess it is hard to buy a gift for someone who appears to not actually need anything - I think our gift boxes are just the thing. Everyone likes lollies and chocolates, well almost everyone!

This was part of the reason why I started my online gift business around the theme of sweet tooth. It's a gift that can be given to almost everyone for almost all occasions and they're not expensive plus it's so easy to order online - win, win, win!

I love that people love being able to buy something a little different but still mean something to the recipient. I get emails saying how excited the recipient was when they opened their gift and found LOLLIES! Also so many people have said how they love they can send something other than flowers and cheaper than flowers (and yummier!). It is a great feeling knowing that my little business has been used and enjoyed by so many people around Australia and the world - I've had orders from NZ, UK, Japan, Canada, Singapore, USA.... exciting. I love picturing them sitting half way around the world looking at my business online, drooling at all of the yummy gifts and relieved that they haven't missed 'little Johnny's' birthday!
